It’s no secret that Microsoft and Google aren’t the best of friends these days. Their recent spat was regarding the issue where Google was found circumventing the user privacy settings in Internet Explorer, the same way they did with Safari and both companies took to their blogs to take digs at each other and explain their side of the story. However, that was not enough for Microsoft. So they did what they did last time they had an argument with Google; make a cheesy video.

You probably remember the Gmail Man video made by Microsoft targeting the way Google goes through your emails to deliver your ads. This time they have another new video, with a character they like to call the Googlighting stranger. The video shows a person representing Google trying to moonlight at Microsoft, offering it to use Google’s online services across its products. Microsoft then goes on to show how Google’s services lacks features compared to its own Office suite and how unreliable they can be, pointing at the now defunct Gears and Wave, along with taking a jab at the almost dead Buzz.

If you look past the irony that Microsoft chose to host the video on the Google-owned YouTube, you will find that the video is actually quite amusing, even though it comes across as an ad hominem attack from Microsoft. BioWare are done with the teasers and finally released the full-length trailer of Mass Effect 3 called Take Earth Back.

The Talk Maemo forum is buzzing with news that the Nokia N9 will be getting Firefox browser and, even better, it will be Flash certified. Apparently, Flash will be enabled only in Firefox, not in the default browser or the new Opera Mobile.

It’s a bit of a weird this situation – the Nokia N900 had full Flash support, while the N9 didn’t. Mozilla’s mobile Firefox browser doesn’t support Flash on its other platforms either.

It’s important to note that the people developing a Flash plugin for the MeeGo version of Firefox don’t work for either Adobe or Mozilla, but for Nokia instead. It’s too early to tell when the browser and the plugin will be available for download, but it will hit the Nokia Store when it is.

LG has announced three new L styled Android smartphones which will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2012 that is starting this weekend. The new LG smartphones have been named as Optimus L3, Optimus L5 and Optimus L7. These new Optimus L family smartphones will come for different segments.

LG recently made the new Optimus logo official that has a silver metallic chrome finish in it. Under the new L-Style design strategy, the Google Android OS running Optimus brand smartphones will feature metallic elements on the body, slimmer look, better keys placement and comfortable form factor.

The Optimus L3 features 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 3 megapixel camera and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This smartphone will be slotted little higher than the Optimus Pro smartphone. The Mobile Indian reported about Optimus L3 at the beginning of this month.

Sporting a 4-inch touchscreen display, the Optimus L5 is the middle brother with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. While the flagship Optimus L7 will feature 4.3-inch touchscreen display and will feature a 5 megapixel camera.

LG elaborated on the L-Style design strategy stating that it will include five aesthetic elements – Modern square style for comfortable grip, Floating Mass technology for slimmer profile, better arrangement of keys with seamless layout, slim shape and harmonized design contrast with metallic accents.

LG has not announced the pricing or availability of these three new handsets. We expect more details to be revealed at the MWC 2012.

Playbook 2.0 upgraded Video Chat

At 9.6 mm, the new phone is slimmer than the outgoing model which comes at 11.9 mm thickness and is also lighter at 148 grams compared to 168 grams of the Optimus 3D. The Optimus 3D Cube also comes with a faster 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU and 16 GB of built-in memory.

While currently the Optimus 3D Cube will come with Android 2.3 version, it is likely to be upgraded to Android 4.0 soon, just like other LG models, though the press release doesn’t mention this upgrade.

The phone will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in a couple of days for the rest of the world to see. One of the best part of the phone is its ability to edit the 3D videos and images captured using its pair of 5 megapixel cameras.

There is another feature called Decorate My Phone, which allows users to change the icons of the apps using downloaded or captured images. It will come with a whole host of 3D games and maps that can be enjoyed on its 4.3 inch display.

The new Optimus 3D Cube will come with NFC (Near Field Communication) capability and LG Tag Plus (Tag +) which allows the phone to switch to different modes like sleep mode, office mode, auto mode when placed to the corresponding NFC tag.

LG also claims that the smartphone has the brightest 3D display with 520 (2D) / 250 (3D) Nitro brightness, in fact LG has already filed to get the entry into Guinness Book of World Records for this.

VideoLAN has finally rolled out its latest VLC Media Player version 2.0. The VLC 2.0 brings all new features and new UI for Windows and Mac users. Its a major upgrade for VLC with faster decoding on multi-core GPU and mobile hardware and the ability to open more formats, HD and 10bits codecs etc.
